L'etude se place dans le domaine de la macroeconomie politique et dans un contexte d'ajustement structurel, elle examine les strategies de divers groupes du secteur informel de l'entreprise a la famille et a la communaute, sur une enquete au Nigeria. Dans ce pays, 65 % de l'activite economique se situe au niveau informel depuis la crise economique des annees 80, les acteurs provenant de plus en plus de niveaux sociaux varies (ouvriers, fonctionnaires, diplomes du secondaire ou du superieur, femmes, fonctionnaires en activite). Dans les conditions d'ajustement structurel que connait le Nigeria, la demande de services de qualite inferieure aussi bien que de produits et de services modernes augmente : l'offre du secteur informel ne propose que des solutions insuffisantes. Dans ces conditions encore, les revenus dans le secteur informel sont tres inegaux et accentuent les inegalites. En termes de resorption du chomage, le secteur informel est de moins en moins efficace, et en termes de qualification aussi. Une intervention de l'Etat est necessaire (REGARDS-CNRS-DF)..
